We had the first few issues of Automation World published after a hectic startup period. I had been researching this new thing called blogging. Dave Winer developed one of the earliest blogging tools. I went to Radio Userland and constructed a simple blogging website—Gary’s Radio Weblog. Almost no magazines truly blog.
Dave, Jane, and I along with Jim, Wes, and Mike started Automation World in 2003. Blogging was catching on. When I had a chance to pause and think, I started a blog on Dave Winer’s Radio Userland in 2003 as an experiment. The sales guys wanted to sell my blog to advertisers. I was busy with that as editor-in-chief.
Digital manufacturing stresses factory networks in ways their designers never dreamed of. By some accounts, manufacturing was the most attacked industry in 2021.
