WA businesses to share in $1 billion worth of local contracts

Construction has commenced on the Western Range Pilbara iron ore mine, a joint venture between Rio Tinto and Baowu Steel, with $1 billion worth of local contracts awarded to WA businesses already. The Western Range project operates under a partnership between mining giant Rio Tinto (54 per cent) and their long-standing customer of more than 40 years, steel pipe manufacturer Baowu Steel (46 per cent).

Sikorsky Australia completes maintenance work for US Navy helicopter

Sikorsky Australia has officially completed deep-level maintenance of a US Navy MH-60R Seahawk “Romeo” helicopter in Nowra, New South Wales. The achievement marks an industry first for the Australian defence sector and builds on the 100-year partnership between Australia and the United States. The helicopter, which arrived in Australia in October last year, will soon return to the United States after successful maintenance and repairs by Sikorsky.

ARENA backs AGIG renewable hydrogen production facility

ARENA has announced a $36.1 million commitment to the Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) for the deployment of one of Australia’s largest renewable hydrogen plants in Wodonga, Victoria. The Hydrogen Park Murray Valley project will produce renewable hydrogen to initially be blended into the local natural gas distribution network, owned by Australian Gas Networks, part of AGIG.

Australian-made ferries to be deployed in Parramatta River in NSW

The NSW government has tapped Richardson Devine Marine Shipbuilders for the construction of seven new Parramatta Class ferries. Designed by Incat Crowthers , the new Australian-made ferries are intended as an upgrade on the 10 overseas-made River Class vessels that entered service in October 2021. The new ferries will not include upper deck seating, which has been deemed too dangerous when passing under Camellia Railway Bridge and Gasworks Bridge.
