A recent study from researchers at Princeton University and Colorado State University has found inaccuracies within the current method for estimating methane emissions from offshore oil and gas production in the UK. As a result, as much as five times more methane is being leaked from oil and gas production than currently reported, the researchers said.

A University of Hull team analysed microplastic levels in both the operating theatre and anaesthetic room in cardiothoracic surgeries and discovered an average of 5,000 microplastics per metre squared when the theatre was in use - almost three times the amount found in our homes. The anaesthetic room had far fewer particles, with an average levels of just 500 per metre squared when in use.

Eastman Chemical Co. is reducing costs in a series of moves that will include job cuts. In an email, an Eastman spokesperson said the job cuts will total 3 percent of the firm's global workforce. Based on current totals, that means Eastman would cut around 435 jobs in 2023. Kingsport, Tenn.-based Eastman announced the moves on Jan. 26, the same day it released its full-year financial results.
