Andrew and Nicola Forrest have purchased Akubra , the proudly Australian company that continues to make its iconic handmade hats in Kempsey, New South Wales. The acquisition, by the Forrests’ private investment group Tattarang, will ensure Akubra remains Australian owned and continues its commitment to local manufacturing. Akubra has been owned and operated continuously by five generations of the Keir family and traces its history back 147 years.
