Australian Manufacturing Week 2023 kicks off today

The Australian Manufacturing Week (AMW2023) is kicking off today at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre. Manufacturers’ Monthly will attend to discover more throughout the week.

The Welcome to Country and the inauguration ceremony took place at the Future Solutions Stage as the first event for the show.

AMTIL is honoured to have Tony Garvey, a celebrated Elder from the local Wurundjeri mob invite them to proceed, with a Welcome to Country for AMW 2023. Ben Carroll MP, Victorian minister for industry and innovation, and minister for manufacturing sovereignty then officially opened the show.

“When manufacturing minds and hearts come together, we can do anything,” Carroll said.

“I look forward to tonight’s budget announcement,” he added. “I’ve had several meetings with the federal minister for industry and science Ed Husic and am excited about the support manufacturing will receive.”

Organised by the Australian Manufacturing Technology Institute Limited (AMTIL), AMW2023 will occupy more than 10,000 square metres of exhibition space at the MCEC in Melbourne, with 300 leading industry exhibitors taking stands to showcase the latest manufacturing technologies, processes, and support services to expected crowds of over 10,000.

AMW2023 will have on display some of the biggest machine tool systems in the world. While at the same time, bringing nanotech and additive manufacturing into focus with demonstrations of the very latest research prototypes.

Over the next four days, over 360 exhibitors will show their best side, in over 10,000sq metres of floor space. Don’t miss out!

There will be seven zones on the show floor of Australian Manufacturing Week, each with their own distinct specialisations. These include:

  • Austech Machine Tools, sponsored by ISCAR;
  • Additive Manufacturing Zone;
  • Australian Manufacturers Zone, sponsored by Sutton Tools;
  • Manufacturing Solutions Zone, sponsored by Adobe;
  • Robotics & Automation Zone;
  • Weld and Air Solutions Zone, sponsored by AtlasCopco; and
  • Plastic Technology Zone.

After the successful AMW2022 show in Sydney in June 2022 with 6,100 trade visitors and 170-plus exhibitors in 4,500 square metres of exhibition space spread over four days, the 2023 Melbourne show will be back on home ground and is slated to be a much bigger event.
