Prysmian, a provider of Australian-manufactured cabling solutions, is improving customer experience by using DB Schenker’s freight solutions to export from Australia to New Zealand and import components from China to Australia, with a focus on Full Container Load (FCL) ocean freight.

In a press release, DB said it was able to give Prysmian a constant four or five containers each week, two shipping lines, and an end-to-end visibility digital software solution called ‘eSchenker.’

Pouyan Harbi, Prysmian Australia’s purchasing manager in Oceania, described eSchenker as an asset to the company’s dispatch team, paving the way for Prysmian to see the whereabouts of its containers as well as know its stock availability.

“The software is easy to use, and DB Schenker set it all up for us, so that all we need to do is adjust the quantity and weight for different shipments. It saves a lot of time compared to manually entering all the data every time,” added Harbi.

Elizabeth Peachey, business development manager at DB Schenker, said it is exciting to assist an Australian business and see it accomplish its export ambitions while also expanding its local presence.

“Prysmian likes to look after its customers and establish long-term relationships, so we are delighted to be working with a company with such a strong service ethos,” Peachey said.

She added that DB Schenker takes pride in its ability to leverage its considerable resources to offer solid promises to its clients, which has allowed Prysmian to better serve its customers.

With about 76,000 workers spread across 1,850 locations and more than 150 years of freight and logistics experience, DB Schenker said it is better able to offer knowledgeable assistance to businesses like Prysmian.

Harbi said it helps that DB Schenker has offices around the world and that they are familiar with the specifics of each country’s logistics needs when a company wants to look at import possibilities because Prysmian Group has operations all over the world, as well.

He added that while reasonable price will always be an important consideration when selecting a freight forwarder or logistics provider, it must be accompanied by excellent customer service.

“We’ve built a solid and productive relationship with DB Schenker, and they have always been willing to go the extra mile to find solutions to new challenges, which we really appreciate,” Harbi said.
