One of Australia’s fastest-growing food technology companies, My Muscle Chef, opens its new $55 million manufacturing and logistics facility in Yennora, Western Sydney

The state-of-the-art site provides additional capabilities across food manufacturing, technology and logistics, boosting employment opportunities in the local community and contributing to economic growth for Western Sydney.

Supporting a 20 per cent increase in the My Muscle Chef team, the new facility has capacity for a 600-strong workforce spanning trained chefs, food technology engineers and technicians, quality assurance, alongside operations, finance, product development, marketing and software engineering. The company’s investment in advanced food production technology and focus on maintaining world-class quality standards also opens up new skilled career paths for the local community.

As part of this commitment to Australian food production and manufacturing, the company’s investment in technology and in people will see My Muscle Chef doubling current capacity to meet growing consumer demand, from 500,000 fresh meals every week to over 1.2 million per week.

Chief Executive Officer, Tushar Menon says, “We are so proud of the evolution of My Muscle Chef over the past nine years. What started out in a small start-up kitchen, has become a 10,000m2 facility capable of producing and supplying over one million fresh meals to Australians across the country every week.

“I’m particularly proud that we are continuing to invest in Western Sydney, where I grew up and where I still call home, providing a wide variety of employment opportunities and career paths to the community, and boosting the local economy.”

Commenting on what this new site means for Western Sydney, David Elliot, Minister for Transport and Veteran Affairs, and Minister for Western Sydney said, “It is great to see this continued investment in Western Sydney by My Muscle Chef, and we are very excited by the job opportunities that are now available. This a great step in the right direction towards our commitment to the Western Sydney City deal which looks to create 200,000 jobs and deliver the 30-minute city through convenient public transport options.”

My Muscle Chef has cemented itself in the direct-to-consumer e-commerce and retail FMCG market for their fresh, high-quality, ready-made meals. The team works with over 200 Aussie growers to supply 70 tonnes of protein and 92 tonnes of vegetables every week, which is set to grow in volume as production capacity increases with the new facility. The My Muscle Chef product range spans fresh meals, snacks and drinks, merging convenience with nutritionally designed menus that are packed full of flavours from around the world, catering to ‘every body and every goal.’

Chief Customer Officer, Nick Love says, “While the brand has evolved over the years, we have never lost sight of the connection to our customers, which is a major driver of the company’s overall success.

“Customer loyalty is incredibly important to us, and we are constantly diversifying our product offering to ensure we are meeting their needs. Whether they’re looking to fuel before a workout, provide a nutritional meal for their families, or to lose weight, our new facility at Yennora enables us to cater to the growing demand for fresh, high-protein, healthy meals, snacks and drinks.”

In 2018, My Muscle Chef undertook its first detailed data analytics research to develop a comprehensive understanding of customer behaviours and purchase motivations. This process led to a broadening of its target market from gym-goers to everyday Aussies and was the catalyst for significant growth in turnover from $27m to approximately $200m.

The Yennora facility is an opportunity to build on the success of the brand and highlights best practice in global food manufacturing and technology.
