Making Advanced Robotic Automation More Affordable and Programming Easier

When Intrinsic introduced its Intrinsic Flowstate, its first developer product built on the Intrinsic platform, it also introduced its first industry partner: Comau. Based in Italy, the leading robot manufacturer and global systems integrator had been working with Intrinsic over the past several years to validate its platform technology and developer product Flowstate through real-world use cases.

At the recent automatica expo in Germany, the company showcased how Comau is using Flowstate and the Intrinsic platform to assemble the rigid components of a plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) supermodule. Supermodules are compact energy converters that help electric vehicles to be charged and operated more efficiently for better range and performance.

Comau, like Intrinsic, is eager to help solution builders leverage software to solve difficult problems in valuable ways. By empowering more of their team, including developers, to build AI-infused solutions faster and in more scalable ways – Comau can offer more modular and affordable solutions to their customers over time. When solutions are faster and more efficient to build, more companies can be introduced to automation in ways that make sense for them financially and operationally.

The implementation and integration of Intrinsic’s AI-backed software capabilities will enable Comau to easily develop scalable, cost-effective solutions and pre-configured application templates that can be used to quickly deploy new or modified applications. The software platform will drive increased robotics adoption and better cost-effectiveness by helping companies in many industries access modern automation that can be easily deployed. Its low-code graphical interface also helps make robot programming intuitive-to-use for non-experts in industries approaching automation for the first time.

“With Intrinsic’s platform Comau is able to program the robots on a task basis, telling the robot what to do but not exactly how. The software has the capability to turn robots that are currently simple doers, into smart thinkers”, said Nicole Clement, Chief of Marketing of Comau.

“To continue to grow into the future, we need to constantly pursue opportunities to more efficiently serve our existing customers… but also bring in the next software innovations to address new industries such as renewable energy, battery production, and logistics. We believe that Intrinsic Flowstate will make it much faster to design, program, and reprogram robotic work cells, saving hundreds of manual programming hours on every project” states Pietro Gorlier, CEO of Comau.

“Partnering with Comau over the years has brought our team a tremendous amount of expertise, knowledge, and real world use cases to focus our efforts on. We’re excited for what’s next and what it will mean to the solution builders of today and tomorrow” comments Wendy Tan White, CEO of Intrinsic.
