Helping Navy destroyers complete their missions

Ameridrives Couplings was selected to provide a variety of custom coupling solutions for use aboard the U.S. Navy’s fleet of Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyers. The ship’s propulsion drive consists of four General Electric LM2500 gas turbines which produce 100,000 total shaft horsepower (75 MW) via a dual propeller shaft design. The drive configuration allows the ships to achieve 30+ knot speeds on open seas.

South Korea launches lunar orbiter as domestic space programme heats up

The orbiter, named Danuri – 'enjoy the Moon' in Korean – was launched from Cape Canaveral in Florida atop a SpaceX rocket (pictured above in another launch). It will enter the Moon’s orbit in December. Korea’s vice science minister Oh Tae-seog said that initial analysis suggested that Danuri was “operating normally” after the launch. The 678kg orbiter was created by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI), and has six payloads including Korean-made equipment.

Lion Electric sees Q2 net earnings of $37.5M as vehicle delivery picks up

The Lion Electric Co. says its second quarter brought US$37.5 million in net earnings as the company boosted the number of vehicles it delivered during the period. The Montreal-based manufacturer of all-electric medium and heavy-duty urban vehicles says that compares with a net loss of US$178.5 million in the second quarter of 2021. Its earnings for the period ended June 30 amounted to 19 cents per diluted share compared with a loss of $1.13 per diluted share at the same time last year.
