International Automotive Summit: Preview

22 June 2023 #Features & Interviews

As countries around the world race to decarbonise their industries, it is critical that the UK commercial vehicle sector works together to achieve its shared goals.

Bringing the industry together is a key step, and SMMT’s International Automotive Summit has become an integral fixture in that regard, providing an opportunity to discuss the major challenges and opportunities in the sphere of competitiveness, skills, technology and trade.

This year’s conference, taking place at the IET London on Tuesday 27 June, will attract some 300 senior level representatives from industry and government, with a packed agenda covering the theme of resilience.

There will be high-profile appearances from the CV sector, too, with keynotes including Chris Gall, Engineering Director at Alexander Dennis, and DHL Supply Chain UK’s Chief Executive, Saul Resnick.

Discussion panels, meanwhile, will gather senior executives, policymakers and a host of content experts from automotive and aligned industries. Topics include ‘Back to Growth’, ‘Industry Resilience and Government Policy’, ‘International Collaboration’ and ‘Competitiveness’.

As such, the event provides a decisive messaging opportunity for the industry at large to reach national and international audiences, shaping the direction of the industry for years to come.

Will Reeves, SMMT CV & Bus and Coach Section Manager, said: “Given that collaboration is critical to ensuring that Britain’s CV sector will thrive amid tough global competition to decarbonise, the SMMT International Automotive Summit will mark an important step forward in communicating exactly how, where and when the sector can deliver the UK’s green goals – and particularly the supportive change needed to make it a success for all.

“A limited number of tickets are still available, so do not delay and risk missing out on this once in a year opportunity.”
