What type of customer is the INEOS Grenadier 4X4 aimed at?

The Grenadier is designed to be a dependable and capable workhorse. It’s specifically aimed at people who need a hard-working off-road vehicle for work or play, and will appeal to farmers, estate managers, outdoor workers and adventurers alike. When developing the Grenadier, we worked with an international panel of enthusiasts and professionals who use 4X4s every day to ensure we developed the Grenadier to meet the needs of our target customers.

When will the first Grenadiers be delivered?

Pricing and specifications for the Grenadier have been announced and order books opened in May 2022, with customers holding reservations now able to finalise their orders directly with INEOS online. Production is on track to commence in autumn 2022 and customer deliveries should start soon after. In terms of our retail network, we’ve appointed 24 UK retailers, with more than 200 sales and service sites confirmed worldwide. Retail partners include established auto dealer groups as well as 4X4 and agriculture machinery specialists. In the UK, we expect to sell 6,000 units per year at peak volume, with 25,000 to 30,000 sales expected worldwide at peak production, across over 70 markets.

From an aftersales perspective, retail partners will form the backbone of the service network, with additional geographical coverage provided by hand-picked Bosch Car Service outlets. This means that the majority of customers will always be within 45 minutes of an official INEOS-accredited sales and service location, and where spare parts are not on the shelf, we target delivery to major markets within 24 hours.

Tell us about the technical specification of the Grenadier?

The Grenadier is based on an all-new platform that uses the same structural solution as the iconic 4X4s of the past. The body is mounted to a ladder chassis: it’s a setup that is more rigid than a monocoque chassis and provides exceptional strength for off-roading. The Grenadier also features solid beam axles at the front and rear, outstanding approach, ramp and departure angles and a two-speed transfer case with a ratio of 2.5:1, ensuring it can tackle the toughest of off-road environments and terrain. We also offer lockable differentials and, from our partners at BMW, great engines with the power and torque to cope with a payload that buyers would expect, as well as 3.5 tonnes in tow. The 3.0L turbo-charged petrol and twin-turbo diesel engines, which meet Euro 6d emission standards, are linked to a ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox and have been fine-tuned to deliver high torque at low revs – a key requirement for serious off-roading.

Are there any demonstrator vehicles available?

We expect to have demonstrator vehicles available at our UK retail partners soon after the start of the launch series production.

Tell us about the manufacturing site in France?

We acquired the Hambach factory from Mercedes-Benz in January 2021. It is one of Europe’s most modern automotive manufacturing sites with an established world-class workforce. The facility’s location on the French-German border, only 200km from Stuttgart and in the German automotive cluster, also gives excellent access to supply chains, automotive talent and markets.
