April 3, 2023
The Republic of Korea leads in robot density with 2,867 industrial robots per 10,000 employees.

About one-third of total operational stock robots, or 1 million units, that have been installed across all industries have been installed in the automotive industry, according to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR).

“The automotive industry effectively invented automated manufacturing,” IFR President Marina Bill told Control Design. “Robots are playing a vital role in enabling this industry’s transition from combustion engines to electric power. Robotic automation helps car manufacturers manage the wholesale changes to long-established manufacturing methods and technologies.”

In terms of robot density, the Republic of Korea leads with 2,867 industrial robots per 10,000 employees as of 2021. Following the Republic of Korea are Germany, with 1,500 units; the United States, with 1,457 units’ Japan, with 1,422 units; and China, with 772 units per 10,000 employees, IFR data reported.
