GE Vernova to invest $50 million in onshore wind business

GE Vernova has announced plans to invest $50 million at its Schenectady, N.Y., facility and hire about 200 full-time employees to establish a new manufacturing assembly line for its onshore wind business. The site will assemble three key components for the company’s 6.1-mW turbine, designed for low to medium wind speeds and equipped with a carbon two-piece blade design.

The line will be installed in the building where the company continues to manufacture steam turbines and generators. Completion is scheduled for summer 2023, with the first set of components produced by early fall. Parts to be manufactured include the machine head, hub, and drive train.
