The Tasmanian government has rolled out the fourth round of its Advanced Manufacturing Accelerating Growth Grant program, providing manufacturing businesses in the state with another chance to secure their share in the state funding.
Under the latest $3 million grant program, Tasmanian-based manufacturing businesses spearheading innovative projects can apply for up to $100,000 to purchase equipment that will help them foster their market reach and create new local jobs.
In a media release issued Wednesday, Minister for Advanced Manufacturing and Defence Industries Madeleine Ogilvie said the program’s first three rounds have distributed a total of $2.19 million in funding to 27 projects, supporting a total investment of $9.2 million in innovative projects.
“One great example of a business benefiting from the Advanced Manufacturing Accelerating Growth Grant program is Pivot Maritime International Pty Ltd, which specialises in cutting-edge maritime simulation design, manufacturing and training,” Ogilvie said.
“Pivot Maritime received $100,000 under round two of the program to assist with the purchase of equipment to support its expansion into the new business stream of 3D renderings of high-resolution maritime environmental models.”
Launched in 1989, the Legana-based company sells products in the defence and commercial markets around the world.
“I encourage Tasmanian-based manufacturing businesses to follow the example of Pivot Maritime and see if you are eligible for funding through the Advanced Manufacturing Accelerating Growth Grant program,” Ogilvie added.
Tasmania’s manufacturing sector generates more than $7 billion in turnover a year and employs approximately 18,000 Tasmanians.
Applications for the Advanced Manufacturing Accelerating Growth Grant program will be accepted until 24 March.
