Nissan to discontinue Leaf EV

Automotive News has reported that Nissan will discontinue its Leaf electric vehicle, introduced as the first mass-market EV in 2010, by mid-decade. Sales of the EV peaked at 30,200 in 2014, but total units sold since its introduction are fewer than 175,000.

The automaker plans to invest $18 billion in 15 battery-electric models by 2030, at which time EVs are projected to be 40% of Nissan’s U.S. sales volume, according to the news source.
